Job summary

Owen Sound in Windsor, Ontario seeks a CNC Programmer to review 3D CAD details, create machine set-ups and translate instructions into CAM programs for machinists. You will verify programs via simulations and optimize tooling, speeds, and feeds within a safety-conscious, continuous-improvement environment.

Ideal candidates have CAD/CAM experience, GD&T reading skills, and strong communication abilities, with a mechanical mindset and blueprint literacy to support efficient manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or technical schooling completed.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Job description

Reporting to: CNC Programming Supervisor

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Review and process 3D CAD details and design blueprints.
  2. Create instructions/set-ups for machinists.
  3. Translate instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program.
  4. Verify completed programs by running simulations.
  5. Analyze and select optimal tooling, speeds, and feeds.
  6. Optimize and improve processes continuously.
  7. Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Relevant experience related to checking fixture and automation details.
  2. Previous experience operating 3/5-axis CNC machines as a machinist.
  3. CAD/CAM experience – SolidWorks, PowerMill, and PowerShape an asset.
  4. FCS and other standardized work fixturing knowledge an asset.
  5. Excellent reading comprehension skills.
  6. Problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  7. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Mechanically inclined.
  9. Ability to read blueprints and comprehend GD&T.

Education:

  1. Minimum High School diploma.
  2. Technical School Graduate or equivalent experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
