Job summary

JEC in Ontario is seeking a CNC Milling Technician to support the die maintenance department and sustain total productive maintenance of stamping dies and related tooling. You will operate a CNC milling machine, update maintenance records, and contribute ideas for process quality and reliability.

Applicants should have MasterCAM, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Catia experience, and relevant certifications or welding skills. Full-time, in-person role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • MasterCAM 2D/3D proficiency required.
  • Fluent with AutoCAD and CAD software.
  • Experience programming and operating CNC milling machines.
  • Tool and Die or General Machining certification is an asset.
  • Practical welding experience (MiG/TIG/ARC) and shop tools familiarity.
  • Understand machining and fabrication principles.

Responsibilities

  • Program, setup and operate CNC milling machines.
  • Maintain dies, transfer fingers, chutes and fastenings.
  • Update die quality, design and maintenance records.
  • Generate continuous improvement ideas for quality and maintainability.
  • Machining and fabrication across the site.
  • Work from engineering drawings with high detail.

Job description

SUMMARY

The purpose of this role is to assist the die maintenance department with the total productivemaintenance of all stamping dies, transfer fingers, chutes, and press bolsters. This will be done throughthe use of the CNC milling machine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Program, setup and operate CNC milling machine
  • Follow the 5’s principal with respect to the workplace (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize,Sustain)
  • Preventative Maintenance and repair of dies, transfer fingers, scrap chutes and fasteningsystems
  • The ability to operate all equipment within the stamping department and provide maintenancesupport
  • Accurate updating and preparation of die quality, design and maintenance records
  • Generate Continuous Improvement ideas for process quality and better maintainability
  • General Machining and Fabrication for the site
  • Continuously improving process through part accuracy and stamping reliability
  • Work at a highly detailed level from engineering drawings of our products and equipment
  • Other duties may be assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of MasterCAM 2D and 3D. Fluent in AutoCAD.

Knowledge of Solidworks, Catia and otherCAD software.

Experience programming and operating CNC milling machine.

Certificate ofqualification in Tool and Die or General Machining is an asset.

Practical experience in MiG, TiG, andARC welding as well as familiarity with hand and shop tools such as drills, lathes, saws, mills etc. is anasset.

Must understand general machining and Fabrication Principles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to writecorrespondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations tocustomers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra andgeometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Abilityto deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
