CNC Machinist Sales and Application Specialist

Location: Mississauga, ON (flexible near this location)

Job Summary

Kennametal is seeking talented machinists and programmers looking to transition their career from the shop floor into a professional sales role. If you currently work as a machinist or have previous hands-on machining and CNC programming experience, we are very interested in speaking with you! This role involves driving metal-cutting tool sales growth with new and established customers, managing customer relationships, providing technical support, and increasing productivity. It combines technical knowledge and sales skills to achieve targets, build a strong territory presence, and support customer initiatives. The role is primarily field-based, with most time spent at customer locations within the territory. A company vehicle, base salary, performance bonus, and benefits from day one are included.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Meet or exceed revenue targets by providing metal cutting solutions aligned with market trends and customer needs.
  2. Manage sales leads, prospects, and new customer accounts proactively.
  3. Handle the complete sales process from prospecting to sourcing.
  4. Develop and execute strategic territory plans focusing on new product sales.
  5. Respond promptly to pre-sales technical and commercial queries.
  6. Maintain customer and project records in CRM to ensure a healthy pipeline.
  7. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a positive customer experience.
  8. Perform product demonstrations tailored to customer needs.
  9. Conduct workshops, webinars, and represent Kennametal at industry events.
  10. Analyze complex application needs to deliver cost savings and provide tooling recommendations.
  11. Prepare and present progress and forecasting reports.
Requirements
  1. Technical degree or degree in Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred.
  2. 3+ years of CNC machining industry experience; 1-2 years in technical sales or applications preferred.
  3. Proficient in product knowledge, applications, and troubleshooting.
  4. Strong understanding of industry dynamics and aligning solutions accordingly.
  5. Skilled in advanced sales techniques, objection handling, and closing strategies.
  6. Ability to execute strategic sales plans independently.
  7. Excellent critical thinking, presentation, and administrative skills.
  8. Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  9. Customer-focused with a passion for problem-solving.
  10. Detail-oriented for contract review and project discussions.
  11. Creative, persuasive, and strategic thinker.
  12. Team player capable of working across departments.
