Job summary

Ideal Gear & Machine Works, a division of Boundary Mining Group, seeks an experienced Programmer or multi-axis Journeyman Machinist to run CNC mill-turn centres and lathes in Delta, BC.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will program with GibbsCam, interpret drawings, ensure quality, and document deviations. Red Seal certification is a plus; strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
• Proficient in multi-axis machine programming.
• Experience with precision measuring tools (gauges, micrometers, verniers).

Responsibilities

• Run multi-axis mill-turn machining centres.
• Program multi-axis mill-turn centres using GibbsCam.
• Set up and run CNC lathes and mills.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
• Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
• Maintain personal inspection quality.
• Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain required paperwork and notations.

Job description

Ideal Gear & Machine Works, a division of Boundary Mining Group , is looking for an experienced Programmer or multi-axis experienced Journeyman Machinist! Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machinist will be responsible for running a variety of CNC & multi-axis machines.

Ideal Gear is part of the Boundary Mining Group of Companies, which designs and manufactures reliable aftermarket components for the open pit mining industry. Ideal Gear has been in business for over a hundred years. As leaders in the gearing and machining space, they service various industries inculding marine, aggregate, mining, oil and gas, and pulp and paper.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary focus will be on running multi-axis mill-turn machining centres.


• Programming multi-axis mill-turn machining centres using GibbsCam.


• Set up and run various CNC lathes and mills.


• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.


• Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.


• Maintain personal inspection quality.


• Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.


• Maintain required paperwork and notations.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Machinist trade certification is considered an asset.


• Proficiency with multi-axis machine programming.


• Experience with multi-axis mill-turn machines and CNC lathes & milling machines.


• Experience with measuring tools such as gauges, micrometers, and verniers.


• Experience operating & programming WFL and Okuma machines is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

• Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:15 pm, flexible start time once fully trained.


• General manufacturing shop specializing in manufacturing of industrial gearing and components.


• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.


• Fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.


• Standing for extended periods of time.
