Job summary

Héroux-Devtek, a leading aerospace supplier, is hiring a CNC Machinist in Cambridge. You will produce large landing gear components with high accuracy and safety standards, operating multiple machines and following detailed setup sheets.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in CNC machining, aerospace background preferred, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience, preferably in aerospace manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and setup sheets.
• Familiarity with health and safety standards in a manufacturing plant.
• Experience meeting quality targets and productivity goals.

Responsibilities

• Machine controls, program pull/send, tool changes and offset entry.
• Read setup sheets and operational detail sheets to guide work.
• Calculate work offsets and indicate positions for accuracy.
• Read G and M codes and verify tool paths for each job.
• Perform preventive maintenance and 5-S activities.
• Work on multiple machines safely and efficiently.

Cambridge: This newly built facility (108,000 sq. ft.) is Héroux-Devtek’s center of excellence for machining of B-777 large size landing gear components.

Summary:

The CNC Machinist responsible for producing large, high quality landing gear components with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency and with great attention paid to health and safety standards.

Salary range: $31-$37 per hour

Main responsibilities

• Machine Control which includes pull and send programs; tool change; trouble shooting; entering tool offsets; M.D.I.
• Understanding setup sheets, tool lists and Operational Detail Sheetsà
• Calculating Work Offsets/Indicating
• Understanding programmed tool path
• Tightening and clamping pressures (i.e. ‘Free State’ condition and part clamped maintaining free state)
• Ability to read, understand G and M codes
• Tape proving new and modified programs, anticipating what the machine will do before it cuts
• Preventive maintenance
• 5-S Activities
• Pre-start up inspections which incorporate Health & Safety awareness
• Running a combined number of machines simultaneously in a safe and effective manner. (Combo)
• Other duties as assigned
• Adhering at all times to company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements
• Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Ability to help produce large, high quality parts in a safe, productive and efficient manner.
• Ability to take direction from and interact with co-workers in a productive and positive manner.
• The ability to wear the required PPE.
• Candidates must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR/CGP directives.
