Job summary

Arrow Machine and Fabrication Group is seeking a CNC Machine Operator in Cambridge, Ontario. You will operate 600mm and 800mm horizontal CNC centers, interpret drawings, and ensure part quality through precise measurement and process control.

You will collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines in a safe, efficient environment, perform tool changes, and document production milestones and deviations as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent with experience in CNC machining operations.
• G&M code fluency and ability to edit programs.
• Understanding of GD&T.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with Fanuc Controls.
• Experience using measuring tools and gauges.
• Knowledge of machining methods and cutting qualities.
• Familiar with SPC.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain CNC machining centers and tooling per instructions.
• Read and interpret drawings; measure and lay out workpieces.
• Verify dimensions with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
• Perform part changeovers and first article inspection.
• Identify and report deviations to supervisors, ensure quality.
• Keep work area safe and maintain production records in barcode system.
• Troubleshoot issues and communicate needs to shift teams.

Compensation Range:

$23.85 up to 25.00 hourly

Position Summary:

The CNC Machine Operator will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of 600mm and 800mm horizontal CNC machining centers. This role involves precision machining of components, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process. The operator will work closely with the production team to meet deadlines and maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintaining a clean and safe work area while operating equipment according to established procedures.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables, or study sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed
• Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out workpieces
• Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools, to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as turning, milling, boring, drilling, and other operations
• Complete change-over activities (Machine preparation from previous job set-up to new job set-up)
• Complete manufacturing of first part per process instruction
• Verify dimensions of machined parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, or other specialized measuring instruments.
• Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor and lead hands.
• Document completion of all required processes and record production in the barcoding system
• Troubleshoot parts when issues occur.
• Communicating critical information to supervisor and oncoming shifts, including quality concerns, tooling issues, maintenance concerns, and production requirements.
• Understanding and having functional use of CNC code and CNC programming
• Setting and loading all tools in conjunction with set-up instructions to complete assigned jobs
• Other duties as required.

Educational Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent with experience in CNC machining operations.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Knowledge of Machining methods, cutting qualities of metal, and tools
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
• G&M code fluency and ability to edit programs
• Understanding of GD&T
• Experience using measuring tools and gauges
• Experience with Fanuc Controls
• Familiar with SPC
• Able to use grinders, jib cranes and related lifting attachments, and handheld equipment that may be necessary for the job
• Follow written instructions when completing a work order to barcode production
