Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide input to IS Infrastructure Support plans.
  • Develop and implement deliverables within IS Infrastructure Support plan.
  • Ensure delivery of optimal results against performance metrics.
  • Maintain operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Review IS Infrastructure Support processes for compliance.

Skills

Multi-cloud proficiency (Azure, AWS)
Understanding of compute, storage, networking, and database services
Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions
Experience in systems design for high availability
Knowledge of cloud security best practices
Networking fundamentals (VPCs, DNS, VPNs)

On behalf of our Utilities client, Procom is searching for a Cloud Architect / Implementer for a 3-6 month role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Edmonton office.

Job Description

Procom's client runs a capital program each year to implement application and infrastructure changes in support of the business. A Senior Infrastructure Cloud Architect / Implementer is required to assist with cloud‑related projects, ensuring adherence to architectural and security standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide input to the IS Infrastructure Support plans, roadmaps, standards, and directions.
  • Develop and implement deliverables within the context of the IS Infrastructure Support plan.
  • Ensure the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics.
  • Maintain operational effectiveness and efficiency, including productivity, quality, and reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and review IS Infrastructure Support processes to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Mandatory Skills
  • Multi‑cloud proficiency, with proven ability to design and implement solutions in Azure and familiarity with AWS.
  • Understanding of compute, storage, networking, and database services across platforms.
  • Ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost‑effective cloud solutions.
  • Experience in designing systems that ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and zero‑trust models.
  • Networking fundamentals, including VPCs, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Strong communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • 2-year post‑secondary diploma or a 4‑year post‑secondary degree in IT or Computing Science.
  • 7 – 10 years of related experience in IT infrastructure.
  • Experience as a solution / system architect on infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of IT business continuity, security, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to understand and communicate key concepts.
Assignment Length

This is a 3‑6 month contract position.
