Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Clinical Therapist (Masters) for Crisis Response within the Mental Health & Addictions team. The role involves crisis assessment, planning, and coordination of follow‑up services across the lifespan, including transitions from the emergency department to local urgent care teams.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in a clinical health field, current registration, and at least two years of licensed clinical experience with DSM-5 knowledge.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy).
• Current registration with the appropriate provincial regulatory body.
• Two years of licensed clinical experience including assessment, planning, treatment and discharge planning.
• Knowledge of DSM-5 criteria for mental health disorders.
• Ability to provide individual and group evidence-informed therapies as per care plans.
• Experience collaborating with families and providing family-sensitive services.
• Crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced crisis assessment, intervention and brief follow‑up for urgent care clients.
• Develop care plans and connect clients to mental health and addiction services.
• Coordinate with local ED and urgent care teams for transition and stabilization.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams and families to support recovery.
