Job summary

The Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority is seeking a Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) for the Selkirk Regional Health Centre. This part-time position (0.7 FTE) requires coordination and leadership of care within a multidisciplinary team to address biopsychosocial needs and promote optimal health outcomes.

Responsibilities include upholding nursing standards, participating in quality improvement, and collaborating with leadership to resolve care and safety issues.

Qualifications

  • Current active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is an asset.
  • Knowledge of nursing process and provincial/Regional initiatives for patient safety.

Position Summary: The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is a Registered Nurse that serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for contributing to the therapeutic environment which addresses the biopsychosocial needs of the patient/client/resident to promote optimal health status.
The CRN is responsible to coordinate and lead care delivery in a manner that reflects professional nursing practice and a team approach to providing care to patients/ clients/ residents with their families. The CRN will uphold standard of care and work towards sustaining service delivery and will be cognizant of care and safety issues and work with leadership and staff to resolve those issues. The position of CRN functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the Interlake – Eastern Regional Health Authority.

  • Current active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Baccalaureate Nursing Degree an asset.
  • Knowledge of the organizations programs, processes, structures and systems.
  • Knowledge of the provincial and regional initiatives to enhance patient safety and care.
  • Knowledge of the nursing process.
  • Apprise of current clinical trends and best practices related to respective clinical areas.
  • Minimum 3 years in the past 5 years applicable clinical nursing experience specific to the unit of supervision.
  • Evidence of management and/ or nursing leadership experience and/or education.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • Knowledge, competence and ability to demonstrate clinical nursing skills and concepts in accordance with approved nursing standards.
  • Ability to make effective decisions regarding nursing care.
  • Must be competent with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teaching and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Demonstrates ability to foster an interdisciplinary collaborative environment that supports quality improvement, client interaction and intervention, and staff development and empowerment.
  • Is respectful of diversity (e.g., economic and social status, race, cultures, beliefs systems, sexuality).
  • Knowledge and respect of various cultures including Indigenous Cultures and experience in working effectively with First Nations people.
  • Demonstrate ability to engage and collaborate with patients and families to achieve best possible outcomes.
  • Good physical, emotional and mental health to meet the demands of the position, physical health requires ability to provide lifts, carries, and transfers on a regular basis.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory pre-employment security check.
  • Satisfactory employment record.
