Job summary

The RI-MUHC in Montreal seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator - Nurse to support the conduct of clinical studies within Pediatric and Adult departments. You will work under the CIM manager to manage patient care and coordinate multiple trials across research teams.

The role requires a Nursing DEC, OIIQ licensure, and at least four years of nursing experience including hospital exposure, plus pediatric experience. Flexible scheduling with 35 hours/week on-site at Glen site.

Qualifications

• DEC in Nursing is required.
• Active member in good standing of the OIIQ.
• Minimum four years nursing experience including two in hospital settings.
• Experience with pediatric patients is required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain informed consent and assess protocol eligibility.
• Maintain logs for concomitant meds, adverse events, and questionnaires.
• Monitor patient safety and medication compliance.
• Prepare protocol orders and pathology requests as needed.
• Coordinate data collection and source documentation.
• Conduct protocol-specific trainings and manage ethics submissions.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager, Pediatric and Adult Research, Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), the Clinical Research Coordinator - Nurse is responsible for supporting the successful conduct of clinical research studies. The incumbent will collaborate with Investigators and health care personnel to assume responsibility for the overall patient management and the coordination of several clinical studies for the Pediatric and Adult Department of the RI-MUHC.

The Centre for Innovative Medicine is a hospital which is a unique center in Canada of 5000 m2 dedicated exclusively to clinical research. The CMI is located at the MUHC Glen site.

General Duties

• Obtains informed consent, assesses patients for protocol eligibility through personal interviews and/or medical record review in in-patient and out-patient settings,
• Maintains and completes concomitant medication, adverse events and questionnaires logs, forms and protocol specific source documentation,
• Monitors patient safety and medication compliance,
• Prepares orders for protocol-related requests and procedures, consults, requests for pathology slides and blocks as needed,
• Coordinates all aspects of data collection and source documentation,
• Completes all research-related documents and responds to queries and requests for information,
• Conducts protocol specific and scientific trainings,
• Responsible for the Research Ethics Board submissions,
• Conduct other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Education / Experience

• DEC in Nursing is required,
• Good-standing member of the OIIQ,
• Minimum four (4) years of nursing experience including two (2) years in a hospital setting,
• Experience with pediatric patients,

Required Skills

• Bilingual: French and English spoken and written,
• Solid written and verbal communication skills,
• Able to work under minimal supervision,
• Self-directed, flexible, organized and sense of ethics,
• Clinical research experience is an asset,
• Knowledge of international, federal and provincial laws and regulations governing clinical research (ICH-GCP) is an asset.

Additional information

Status : Temporary full time (35 hours/weeks - 12-month contract)

Pay Scale : $45,518.20 to $84,484.40/year Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift : Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (Flexible)

Work Site : Glen site, 1001, de Maisonneuve
