Job summary

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) in Montreal is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator - Nurse to support the conduct of clinical studies in the Pediatric and Adult Department. You will collaborate with investigators and healthcare staff to manage patient care and coordinate multiple trials.

Responsibilities include consent, data collection, safety monitoring, and regulatory submissions, with a 35-hour week and 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• DEC in Nursing required; OIIQ in good standing.
• Minimum four years nursing experience including two years in a hospital setting.
• Experience with pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Obtain informed consent and assess protocol eligibility in patients.
• Maintain and complete logs for concomitant medications, adverse events, and questionnaires.
• Monitor patient safety and medication compliance; coordinate data collection.
• Prepare protocolrelated orders and requests; handle pathology slides and blocks as needed.
• Conduct research trainings and ensure regulatory submissions (REB).

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager, Pediatric and Adult Research, Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), the Clinical Research Coordinator - Nurse is responsible for supporting the successful conduct of clinical research studies. The incumbent will collaborate with Investigators and health care personnel to assume responsibility for the overall patient management and the coordination of several clinical studies for the Pediatric and Adult Department of the RI-MUHC.

The Centre for Innovative Medicine is a hospital which is a unique center in Canada of 5000 m2 dedicated exclusively to clinical research. The CMI is located at the MUHC Glen site.

General Duties

• Obtains informed consent, assesses patients for protocol eligibility through personal interviews and/or medical record review in in-patient and out-patient settings,
• Maintains and completes concomitant medication, adverse events and questionnaires logs, forms and protocol specific source documentation,
• Monitors patient safety and medication compliance,
• Prepares orders for protocol-related requests and procedures, consults, requests for pathology slides and blocks as needed,
• Coordinates all aspects of data collection and source documentation,
• Completes all research-related documents and responds to queries and requests for information,
• Conducts protocol specific and scientific trainings,
• Responsible for the Research Ethics Board submissions,
• Conduct other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Education / Experience

• DEC in Nursing is required,
• Good-standing member of the OIIQ,
• Minimum four (4) years of nursing experience including two (2) years in a hospital setting,
• Experience with pediatric patients,

Required Skills

• Bilingual: French and English spoken and written,
• Solid written and verbal communication skills,
• Able to work under minimal supervision,
• Self-directed, flexible, organized and sense of ethics,
• Clinical research experience is an asset,
• Knowledge of international, federal and provincial laws and regulations governing clinical research (ICH-GCP) is an asset.

Additional information

Status: Temporary full time (35 hours/weeks - 12-month contract)

Pay Scale: $45,518.20 to $84,484.40/year Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (Flexible)

Work Site: Glen site, 1001, de Maisonneuve
