Job summary

University Health Network is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (Research). You will support oncology/hematology trials, coordinate visits, obtain consent, and ensure data integrity in Epic.

The role is primarily on-site with occasional remote work, 37.5 hours per week, 14-month temporary full-time contract. You will work with the Clinical Research Manager, Nurses, and investigators to advance trials while maintaining regulatory compliance and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health or science-related discipline.
  • Postgraduate certificate in clinical research preferred.
  • Minimum three years of clinical/professional experience required.
  • Clinical research experience in oncology/hematology preferred.
  • Experience with informed consent in a clinical setting.
  • Strong MS Office, Teams, Outlook skills.
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines; regulatory tasks.
  • Basic medical terminology proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate frontline clinical trial activities and patient care.
  • Recruit study participants and obtain informed consent.
  • Schedule and manage patient visits per protocol, collect data, and report adverse events.
  • Document data in Epic and manage trial-related paperwork.
  • Prepare study materials and electronic order sets in Epic.
  • Support data entry, ethics submissions, and investigator files.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Status: Temporary Full-Time (14 months)

Position Summary: The Cancer Clinical Research Unit requires a Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC I) to work with various research projects within its oncology & hematology research portfolio. Working under the direction of the Clinical Research Manager, the CRC I collaborates and works very closely with the Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Nurses, and health care team to jointly assume responsibility for the frontline administrative management and coordination of clinical trials and research studies (interventional trials and non-therapeutic studies). It is essential for the Clinical Research Coordinator I to be team oriented and contribute to the overall goals and tasks of the team, particularly with the Clinical Research Nurses. The CRC I will work collaboratively with data and regulatory teams to ensure the collection of high quality data and regulatory compliance through the trials. The CRC I will be a part of a larger CRC I team and may have the opportunity to participate in other team and CCRU initiatives. The CRC I role is a primarily on-site position, with some flexibility for work from home as disease site clinical schedule and tasks allow, following UHN policies, and as approved by the Clinical Research Manager.

Duties:

  • Administrative duties related to the frontline coordination of patient care on clinical trials
  • Recruitment of study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects, obtain informed consent)
  • Coordination and execution of various aspects of patient visits schedules as per study protocol, (e.g. recording adverse events and concomitant medications, administering questionnaires/ePROs, correlative sample coordination and kit prep, vital signs)
  • The CRC I performs source documentation in UHN’s EMR (Epic) and data collection according to UHN policy, ICH-GCP guidelines, and study protocol.
  • Trial administrative tasks such as preparation of study materials and electronic order sets in Epic throughout study start-up and trial maintenance
  • Other responsibilities may include planning, implementing, and coordinating aspects of data entry (e.g. in databases or Case Report Forms) and study-related administrative tasks, such as creation and maintenance of investigator study files, ethics submissions, meeting facilitation, etc.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, a Bachelors degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline
  • Postgraduate certificate in clinical research, strongly preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical and/or professional experience required
  • Minimum of up to 1 year clinical research experience, preferred
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (i.e. SOCRA, ACRP), preferred
  • Proficiency in basic medical terminology
  • Previous research in oncology or hematology, strongly preferred
  • Experience with patient contact and informed consent in a clinical setting
  • Understanding of regulated clinical trial data and regulatory tasks, asset
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures, an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic & fast-paced environment
  • Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong Proficiency with MS Office software, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint
