Position Summary

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, this position provides pharmacy services to patients in Northern Health. As a member of an interprofessional team, this position assesses and recommends individualized treatments, acts as the primary resource for drug information and education, and provides expert advice to health care professionals. The pharmacist monitors drug prescribing, drug distribution and drug therapy to ensure safe, effective, rational, legal and economic use of drugs and maintains workload records and statistics.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning).
- Complete and recommend appropriate drug therapy interventions, including prescribing, monitoring, and evaluating drug therapy.
- Act as the primary resource for drug information, education, and provide expert advice to health care professionals.
- Monitor drug prescribing, drug distribution, and drug therapy to ensure safe, effective, rational, legal, and economic use of drugs.
- Maintain workload records, statistics, and documentation of pharmacy services.
- Collaborate with the interprofessional team and provide patient‑centered care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and current licensure with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program or at least one year of hospital experience and advanced education courses.
- Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is encouraged.
