Job summary

Providence Health Care in Vancouver seeks a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to support the Healthy Heart program within cardiac rehabilitation. You will design and implement exercise prescriptions based on stress tests and clinical status, monitor patient responses, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or kinesiology with two years of related cardiac rehab experience.
• Eligibility for registration with CACPR and professional association member.
• Certification as Clinical Exercise Physiologist.

Responsibilities

• Provide and implement exercise prescriptions based on stress/metabolic tests and clinical status; monitor patient responses.
• Educate patients, families and other health care professionals about exercise and rehab plans.
• Collaborate with the Healthy Heart team; maintain ongoing communication with team and community; assist planning.

Job description

The salary range for this position is CAD $40.19/Hr. - CAD $50.20/Hr.

The hours of work, including start and stop times, days off, work area and work site may be subject to change consistent with operations requirements and applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement and statutes. **Testing may be required. ***A criminal record check may be required

Reporting to the designated Physiotherapy Site Leader, and/or receiving guidance and support from the Professional Practice Leader and/or the Research Education and Practice Coordinator, the position supports the interdisciplinary program/team, which is under the direction of the Patient Care Manager, by

• Providing and implementing exercise prescriptions based on the results of patient's exercise stress tests or metabolic tests and clinical status, and monitors patients' responses to exercise.
• Provides education to patients and their families and other health care professionals.
• As a member of the Healthy Heart team, consults with and maintains ongoing communication with all team members and the community at large, and participates in team business and planning for the Healthy Heart Program.
• Provides mentorship, education and clinical supervision for undergraduate and graduate students as required.

Education

• Bachelor's degree from a recognized program such as exercise physiology, or Kinesiology, plus two (2) years of recent related experience as a clinical exercise physiologist in a tertiary care cardiac rehabilitation environment.
• Eligibility for registration/membership with the appropriate professional association and eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (CACPR).
