Job summary

Extendicare (Canada) Inc. is seeking two Regional Clinical Educators for Western Ontario to advance clinical excellence across long-term care homes.

The role combines hands-on teaching, content development, scheduling, and frequent travel to multiple sites to support safe practice and resident care. You will deliver onboarding, simulation, and competency assessments, develop lesson plans and learning resources, and partner with home and regional leaders.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing.
• 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, geriatrics, or related setting.
• Current BCLS/CPR certification.
• Experience delivering clinical education and competency development.
• Facilitating group education and applying adult learning principles.
• Knowledge of long-term care standards and infection prevention practices.
• Ability to travel regularly across multiple sites.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with quality improvement and resident safety principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, virtual learning, and LMS platforms.
• Graduate education in Nursing, Education, Leadership, or related adult-education asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver standardized onboarding, transition to practice, and ongoing clinical skills education to staff.
• Facilitate education through labs, simulation, microlearning, bedside coaching, and virtual delivery.
• Assess and validate competencies through knowledge assessment, return demonstration, and clinical judgment activities.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans, facilitator guides, learning resources, and competency tools.
• Translate legislation, policies, and best practices into practical clinical skills education.
• Partner with home and regional leaders to identify practice gaps, learning needs, and education priorities.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and follow-up support to strengthen practice and sustain change.
• Use learning technologies, virtual platforms, and LMS to improve access and learner engagement.
• Monitor participation, competency completion, learner feedback, and outcomes to evaluate and improve programs.
• Contribute to quality improvement, resident safety, and clinical practice-change initiatives.
• Build collaborative relationships across multiple homes and elevate significant education concerns as appropriate.

Job Description The Regional Clinical Educator plays a key role in advancing clinical excellence and workforce capability across an assigned portfolio of long-term care (LTC) homes. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Clinical Education, the regional clinical educator partners with home and regional leaders and frontline teams to deliver standardized, evidence-informed clinical skills education. Through onboarding hands-on skills training, simulation, coaching, and competency development, the Regional Clinical Educator supports safe practice, staff confidence, and high-quality, person-centred resident care. This educator also helps translate policies and best practices into everyday practice while contributing to the development, evaluation, and expansion of Extendicare’s clinical education program. We are currently recruiting two Regional Clinical Educator for Western Ontario. The Regional Clinical Educator role is a hybrid working role, that combines administrative responsibilities (e.g. education content development, scheduling), and frequent in-person education across assigned LTC homes. Regular regional travel is an essential requirement.

Key Responsibilities

What we’re looking for

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory college
• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, geriatrics, or a related setting..
• Current BCLS/CPR certification
• Experience in clinical education delivery, adult learning, and competency development
• Demonstrated experience facilitating group education and applying adult learning principles
• Knowledge of long-term care standards and infection prevention practices
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to the needs of multiple homes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with quality improvement and resident safety principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, virtual learning, and LMS platforms
• Ability to travel regularly across multiple sites
• Graduate education in Nursing, Education, Leadership, or an adult education credential is an asset
