Job summary

A regional health provider in Belleville, Ontario is looking for an experienced Clinical Dietitian to provide evidence-based nutritional care. The successful candidate will assess patients' nutritional needs and develop tailored care plans in collaboration with medical professionals. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition and membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Experience with Meditech is preferred. This is a full-time position focused on enhancing patient health and recovery.

Qualifications

Job description
Position Summary

Our In-Patient Clinical Dietitians are responsible for providing evidence-based nutritional care and counselling. They assess patients' nutritional needs, develop individualized care plans, and implement dietary strategies to promote health, manage chronic conditions, and support recovery. The role involves close collaboration with medical teams to ensure that nutrition plays an integral role in patient treatment and recovery processes.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the nutritional status and identify factors influencing nutritional well-being to enhance the development of the care plan.
  • Implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the nutritional care plan for inpatients.
  • Provide nutrition education/counselling to patients/clients and caregivers.
  • Effectively and efficiently utilize resources to support nutrition care.
  • Document patient care as per College of Dietitians of Ontario standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and/or care conferences as needed.
  • Evaluate service effectiveness and identify, recommend and implement quality improvement measures.
  • Ongoing participation in continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition (or equivalent).
  • Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Understanding of learning/teaching methods, patient education and counselling principles.
  • Ability to prepare and present educational material to patients/clients and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision making and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a busy multidisciplinary setting.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Ability to provide client-centered care.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.

Preferred

  • Previous experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Previous experience with Meditech or other Electronic Medical Records.
Physical Demands
  • Strength: Required Occasionally – lifting and carrying average 5 pounds, pushing/pulling.
  • Mobility: Required Often – prolonged sitting; Required Occasionally – standing and walking on hard surfaces.
  • Dexterity: Required Often – reaching, prolonged fine finger movement; Required Frequently - gripping/grasping.
