Position Summary

We are hiring for a relief part-time 0.78fte Clinical Dietitian – Diabetes Education Program position in Kelowna, B.C. This position works 12:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday, and from 08:30-16:30 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

About the position

The Clinical Dietitian - Diabetes Education Program (IDA/CDE) works as part of a healthcare team to support people with all types of diabetes. They provide nutrition care based on established guidelines and use their specialized knowledge and skills to help clients manage their condition.

The role includes assessing nutrition needs, planning and documenting care, setting goals with clients, and providing ongoing support. They provide counselling and education sessions, helping train and guide colleagues, staff, and students by sharing information and demonstrating equipment or procedures.

The Clinical Dietitian contributes to improving diabetes services by helping develop nutrition guidelines and participating in research and quality improvement projects which may be at the regional, provincial, and local levels.

Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in nutrition and dietetics
  • Successful completion of an accredited hospital based dietetic internship program (or equivalent acceptable to the facility)
  • Full registration as a Registered Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
  • Two (2) years of clinical nutrition experience including one (1) year working with Diabetes clients in a health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training suitable to the facility or program is required
  • Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA) Competency, or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or completion of the Diabetes Educator Certificate Program from Michener Institute
  • Valid BC Driver’s License as required.
