Job summary

Somerset West Community Health Centre, a community health hub in Ottawa, seeks a Clinic Nurse. The role reports to the Manager of Primary Health Care and works with an inter‑disciplinary team to provide coordinated care in the Primary Health Care department.

Ideal candidates hold an Ontario RN or RPN license, have 3–5 years of community nursing experience, and possess EMR familiarity; English fluency is required with French knowledge as an asset.

Qualifications

  • Experience using an EMR, preferably Practice Solutions Suite (PSS).
  • Experience providing routine immunizations for all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Nursing assessments and triage by telephone and in person.
  • Administer medications and treatments within scope.
  • Client education and advocacy.
  • Perform procedures such as wound care and ear care as appropriate.

Compensation: RPN $28.32-$33.40 /RN $37.50-$45.25

What the Program Entails

Our team of doctors, nurses, dietitians and more offer a range of medical services.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Manager of Primary Health Care the Clinic Nurse works as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated care with other health professionals and support the overall function of the clinic.

What We’re Looking For
Life and Work Experience
  • Three to five years’ experience in community nursing working with diverse populations
  • Previous clinic experience an asset
  • Previous experience using an EMR, preferably Practice Solutions Suite (PSS)
  • Experience providing routine immunizations for all ages
Your Education Path
  • Current license with the College of Nurses of Ontario (RN/RPN)
  • Current CPR (preferred)
Required Language
  • Fluency in English required
  • Working knowledge of French or other languages an asset

  • Knowledge of primary health care and the social determinants of health
  • Able to work effectively in an inter-professional environment
  • Knowledge and awareness related to cultural competence
  • Experience working with disadvantaged communities
  • Knowledge of nursing care related to Primary Care/Community Health/Chronic Disease Management

As our Clinic Nurse, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Nursing assessments
  • Telephone & in-person triage
  • Administer medications & treatments
