Job summary

A utility service provider is seeking a Climate Action Consultant responsible for engaging with customers and marketplace partners to implement energy-saving projects and climate action plans. The ideal candidate has a university degree and extensive experience in client service, climate action, or the electrical industry. This role allows for hybrid work, requiring some onsite presence in Ontario.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of professional experience in client service, climate action, or electrical industry.
  • Experience working with MASH clients.
  • Class 'G' driver’s license required.

Overview

Climate Action Consultant is responsible for engaging with assigned customers at all levels and other marketplace partners to help customers accelerate save on energy projects and climate action plans, including electrification of heating, hot water and transportation, energy efficiency, or behind the meter resources. The incumbent collaborates with internal business units such as Key Accounts, Connections, Engineering, Metering, Customer Care as well as to interact with trade allies and other channel partners, e.g. IESO key account managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships with multiple external stakeholders to enhance the organization’s climate action offerings
  • Develops and implements market engagement strategies within the assigned sector to drive the adoption of climate action initiatives.
  • Monitors and evaluates the impact of market engagement efforts, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement and optimization.
  • Identifies internal and external barriers to climate action, and works with peers and partners to develop and implement systemic solutions
  • Provides support to customers or representative contractors in the climate action journey, including identifying incentive programs, providing application support, connecting with pre-qualified trade allies, high-level identification of opportunities
  • Undertakes research and analysis as needed to support customer climate action. Recommends areas of service improvements and provides data required to support recommendations, investment decisions and climate action program development.
  • Reports and maintains records of climate action related customer interactions with quality and accuracy. Provides analysis and insight into customer behaviors to support management decision making.
Requirements
  • University degree in engineering, business, science, or a technical field
  • P. Eng, CEM, CET designations strongly preferred
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in client service, climate action, conservation programs or the electrical industry
  • Experience working with the MASH (Municipality, Academic, Schools and Hospitals)
  • Working knowledge of technologies, solutions and paths to decarbonization for buildings and process loads
  • Class “G” driver’s license
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of climate action in order to provide concierge type services to customers to overcome barriers to action.
  • Excellent understanding of business development
  • Strong influence and negotiation skills; ability to persuade or influence others to adopt or accept a point of view or take a course of action.
  • Knowledge and understanding of climate action technologies
  • Understanding of Measurement & Verification requirements and methodologies an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of electricity usage, billing and metering of customers
  • Good technical understanding of electrical power distribution concerns and issues
  • Account management, strategic sales and relationship management skills
Location and Remote Work

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
