Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Ontario is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to lead initiatives in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will possess a Post-Graduate in Engineering and have 10-15 years of experience in project engineering, particularly in an EPCM environment. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling engineering efforts, acting as the main technical contact with clients, and developing project strategies to address issues and achieve quality targets. Qualifications

  • Post-Graduate in Engineering; P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation.
  • Typically 10–15 years of experience in an EPCM environment in the energy industry with 7–10 years of direct project engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Project Lead dealing directly with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to act as the main client contact and coordinate meetings and reporting across multiple groups and disciplines.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality work under competing priorities and deadlines; demonstrated independent project leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and work in a dynamic environment; experience with design optimization and decision-making support.
  • Knowledge of client and corporate procedures; discretion when handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and estimate design engineering effort on projects.
  • Assist in the development of proposals and prepare/update cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and design elements.
  • Develop project strategy to address key issues and achieve targets.
  • Interpret project specifications and scope for all engineering disciplines.
  • Coordinate with disciplines and prepare engineering control documents.
  • Monitor design changes and support development of change orders.
  • Act as the main technical contact with the client.
  • Complete feasibility studies and technical report writing.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers.
  • Maintain quality control and assurance on projects.
