Job Description
  • Operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle on long-haul routes, primarily on the Dempster Highway from Whitehorse to Inuvik
  • Ensure safe and timely delivery of cargo while adhering to all transportation regulations and company policies
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain truck safety and compliance
  • Accurately complete and maintain all required documentation, including logbooks, inspection reports, and delivery receipts
  • Navigate challenging road conditions, including gravel roads, ice roads, and mountain passes
  • Manage load securement and weight distribution to ensure safe transport
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other drivers using various communication tools
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
  • Adapt to changing weather conditions and adjust driving techniques accordingly
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate varying delivery demands and potential delays
  • Assist with loading and unloading cargo using equipment such as forklifts when necessary
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in ongoing safety training
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients and the public
  • Stay informed about road conditions, construction, and potential hazards along the route
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck cabin and cargo area

This is a full-time position based out of Whitehorse, requiring flexibility in availability and the ability to be away from home for extended periods.
