Job summary

Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) invites applications for a Claims Support role at the Toronto West Office, operating in a hybrid model. You will open claims, handle inquiries, and enter information while maintaining accurate electronic notes and processing related documents.

As part of the claims and customer experience teams, you’ll develop stakeholder relationships and contribute to a culture of leadership, accountability, and ongoing professional development, aligning with SGI

Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution in Business or Office Administration.
  • One to two years of experience in an office environment.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, equipment, and insurance claims practices.

Responsibilities

  • Opens and assigns new claims files and handles inquiries via phone and email.
  • Ensures timely and high-quality customer service to claimants, insureds, brokers, and service providers.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Supports leadership and contributes to a high-performing culture and workforce development.
  • Supports corporate management by aligning with policies and mitigating risk.
  • Assists with ongoing education and professional development opportunities for team members.

Key Accountabilities

Claims Support
  • Opens and assigns new claims files.
  • Answers and returns phone calls and e-mail inquiries.
  • Enters claims information into GIS and Guidewire Orders reports for the claims department.
  • Processes windshield claims.
  • Maintains up to date electronic notes.
  • Processes Salvage cheques and invoices.
  • Resolves routine administrative problems.
Customer Experience
  • Ensures all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Ensures a high level of customer service is achieved and maintained.
Stakeholder Relationships
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with claimants, insureds, brokers and service providers.
Leadership
  • Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.
  • Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.
  • Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.
  • Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.
Corporate Management
  • Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.
  • Manages risk in area of authority.
  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.
Education & Experience
  • A one-year certificate from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business or Office Administration.
  • One to two years’ experience in an office environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of office procedures and office equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of claims procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of insurance.
