Job summary

CapWest is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support excavation activities on development projects in the Vancouver area, including Tsawwassen, South Cambie, and Pitt Meadows. You will operate excavators, bulldozers and compactors, assess soil types, and perform pre-op checks while coordinating with haul trucks and utilities crews.

The role requires Grade 12 education, 3+ years of heavy equipment experience, and a valid BC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education required.
• At least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction.
• Valid BC driver’s license.
• Ability to differentiate between soil types and plan work accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators to strip material, stockpile, dig ditches, load material.
• Operate bulldozers to grade soil in appropriate lift thicknesses.
• Operate vibratory drum compaction equipment as per Geotechnical Engineer recommendations.
• Operate around existing utilities and safely run a street sweeper to clean roads.
• Perform pre-operational checks, refuel, and lubricate equipment.
