Job summary

Stantec in Markham, ON is seeking a Civil Technologist/Technician to join the Infrastructure Practice. You will coordinate drawings and specifications with Project Managers and CAD staff, preparing plans, sections, details and construction drawings in line with client requirements and company procedures.

You will perform field reviews during construction, including basic surveying, and support other teams on complex projects within a dynamic design environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil design using AutoCAD Civil3D and pipe networks.
• Ability to coordinate project drawings with PMs, leads and CAD staff.
• Proficient in basic surveying tasks during field reviews.

Responsibilities

• Performs civil design using AutoCAD Civil3D including underground utilities, roadways, and site developments.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a professional and dynamic Civil Technologist / Technician to join our Infrastructure Practice and specifically Civil Engineering Team in Markham, ON. The successful candidate will coordinate project drawings and specifications with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, CAD staff and others; ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner; liaise with drafting coordinators supporting other disciplines; participate in design and preparation of engineering drawings and specifications using the appropriate internal and external standards; prepare plan, section, detail, schematic and construction drawings; and ensure all drawings are in accordance with client specific requirements and company procedures. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, supporting other teams within the group, facilitating complex projects and large design packages. You will undertake field review services during construction including basic surveying tasks under the direction of a Project Manager or Engineer.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Performs civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs primarily AutoCAD Civil3D including underground utilities (water/sewer conveyance using pipe networks), roadways (alignments using corridors), and site developments (using surface and grading commands).


• Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the completion of the project under the direction of a project coordinator or project manager.


• Performs calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software.


• Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity and size


• Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.


• Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.


• Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.


• Undertake field review services during construction including basic surveying tasks


• Performs other duties as assigned by project managers or supervisor.
