Civil Technician/Technologist

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Civil Technician/Technologist to join our Team. GEMTEC currently has openings for a Civil Technician/Technologist in our Halifax, NS office located at 11 Akerley Boulevard, Suite 450, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, B3B 1V7.

The ideal candidates will have experience in materials testing and inspection, as well as general construction activities, with geotechnical and/or environmental field experience considered an asset.

Educational & Experience Requirements
  • College Level Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Project Management.
  • Three years experience in civil construction.
  • Experience with materials testing and inspection.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organization, and planning skills.
  • Possess ability to lift 30-50 lbs routinely as required.
  • CCIL Certification
Main Duties
  • Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Laboratory testing of aggregates, soils, concrete and asphalt.
  • Various office, laboratory and field tasks related to materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.
  • Conduct construction surveys to support engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate project activities and deliverables.
  • Communicate project updates, milestones, and potential issues to clients in a clear and professional manner.
  • Other duties as required.
Position
  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week). Language of work: English.
  • Must have avalid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for work related travel.
  • Salary range: $46,000 - $48,500 per year
