Job summary

WSP, based in Red Deer, Alberta, is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to lead municipal and land development projects within the Municipal Engineering and Land Development Group. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver infrastructure solutions that support growing communities in Central Alberta.

The role requires a P.Eng./P.L.(Eng.) in Alberta, 5+ years of relevant experience, and a strong background in water, sewer, stormwater, and road design, with knowledge of construction

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or P.L.(Eng.) license in Alberta.
• 5+ years of municipal infrastructure and land development project delivery.
• Experience in watermain, sanitary sewer, stormwater and roadway design.
• Strong knowledge of construction administration and municipal delivery processes.
• Understanding of Alberta environmental standards and approval processes.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to engage with municipal clients in Central Alberta.
• Collaborative mindset and passion for improving communities through infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Deliver municipal engineering and land development projects across Central Alberta.
• Manage planning, design, and execution of water, wastewater, stormwater, and roadway systems from concept to construction.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, practical solutions.
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships with municipalities and public-sector partners.
• Mentor and support emerging professionals in municipal engineering.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk, and communications for successful delivery.
• Contribute to proposals and bids for regional municipal projects.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Licensee in Engineering (P.L.(Eng.)) designation registered in Alberta.
• Approximately 5+ years of experience delivering municipal infrastructure and land development projects.
• Demonstrated experience in watermain, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and roadway design.
• Strong understanding of construction administration and municipal project delivery processes.
• Working knowledge of Alberta environmental standards, regulations, and approval processes.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to engage with municipal clients throughout Central Alberta.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 – $138,000
MB & ON: $95,000 – $130,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $94,100 – $124,900
