Job Description

AECOM is searching for an experienced Civil Project Engineer to be based in our Kitchener, ON office. You will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering design and construction administration / management principles with a focus on municipal infrastructure projects. Knowledge and understanding of land development (subdivision / site plan) projects is an asset. You will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. You will be expected to lead and support in the delivery of municipal infrastructure (new and reconstruction) projects to municipal water, wastewater, and storm water sector clients, and support the delivery of land development projects to customers within the private development sector.

Responsibilities
  • Lead existing municipal technical design staff, for projects including: Sewer and water main design / replacement / reconstruction, roadway and intersection improvements, site servicing design, potable water pumping, transmission, storage and distribution systems, sanitary drainage and pumping
  • Client liaison and relationship management
  • Prepare documentation related to current or prospective projects, including correspondence, reports, proposals, expressions of interest, and specifications
  • Perform Contract Administration duties, including contractor interaction, progress payment certificates and convene progress site meetings.
  • Communicate and work with other project team members in Kitchener and other regional offices to provide quality service to clients on projects of varying scope and complexity
  • Support new business development
  • Liaise with and assist other departments and offices in the provision of design services to other clients, as applicable
  • Perform financial and budget control duties on projects
  • Respond to contractor and public inquiries
  • Working knowledge of land development design services for a range of development types, including plans of subdivision and site plans (residential / commercial / industrial), including knowledge of draft plan and site plan approval processes, is an asset.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Registered as P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario or eligible within 6 months
  • 4+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, contract administration.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, contract administration of stormwater management procedures and design
  • Design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks and detail design
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2016
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to work in field or office conditions
  • Experience in transportation design / reconstruction projects, land use planning and land development or site plan preparation and studies
  • Experience with design of trenchless methods for installation of small and large diameter watermains and sewers
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation
  • Familiarity with software for modelling water transmission / distribution systems
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Certification such as PMP or related are desirable
  • Construction inspection experience
