Job summary

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic Civil Maintainer to support the relocation of our Supply Chain facility to a new site. You will assist with moving tools, equipment, and inventory safely, ensuring a smooth transition and adherence to health, safety, and operating procedures.

The role requires physical capability, teamwork, and strong organizational skills, with training shifts and potential overtime. Willingness to work days initially and transition to afternoons is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence; AZ or DZ licence is an asset.
  • Experience operating forklifts, trucks, cranes, power tools, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Experience moving, loading, unloading, staging, and transporting heavy equipment, materials, tools, or furniture between locations.
  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; able to work in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

  • Relocate tools, equipment, materials, furniture, and supplies between current and new facility.
  • Load/unload, stage, and organize items following safe material-handling practices.
  • Operate forklifts, trucks, mobile equipment, hand tools, and power tools as needed.
  • Pack, label, inventory, store, and distribute materials for moves and site setup.
  • Assemble, dismantle, relocate workstations and shelving; support site setup.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Civil Maintainer.

Job Overview

This position supports the relocation of OPG’s Supply Chain facility to a new work location. The successful candidate will assist with the safe and efficient movement of tools, equipment, materials, furniture, supplies, and inventory between the current and new facility. Responsibilities include loading, unloading, staging, organizing, and setting up items to support a smooth transition of Supply Chain operations.

This hands-on role requires physical capability, strong teamwork and organization skills, and a commitment to following established health, safety, and operating procedures.

Key Accountabilities
  • Support OPG site moves by safely relocating tools, equipment, materials, furniture, and supplies between assigned work locations.
  • Load, unload, carry, stage, and organize heavy or bulky items using safe material-handling practices.
  • Operate forklifts, trucks, mobile equipment, hand tools, and power tools required to complete relocation assignments.
  • Pack, label, inventory, store, deliver, and distribute materials, tools, and equipment to support moves and site setup.
  • Assemble, dismantle, install, and relocate workstations, shelving, storage units, temporary structures, and other facility equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance, minor repairs, and basic construction work related to preparing, restoring, or setting up work areas.
  • Conduct housekeeping, waste handling, cleanup, and site-restoration activities before, during, and after relocations.
  • Inspect and maintain assigned tools, equipment, lifting devices, and safety equipment; report defects or hazards promptly.
  • Follow all OPG health, safety, radiation protection, contamination-control, technical procedure, and operating requirements while protecting the safety and well-being of self and others.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and working in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, including safe material handling, use of personal protective equipment, hazard identification, and following established procedures.
  • Ability to work from heights (climbing ladders, scaffolding, stairs).
  • Strong organizational, planning, communication, and teamwork skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work day shifts for the duration of the training period and transition to afternoon shifts thereafter. Overtime may also be required.
