You as a Civil (Ground Engineering) Designer will:

Prepare structural design drawings and 3D models for geotechnical and foundation systems, including soldier piles, tiebacks, shotcrete and soil nail walls, secant and sheet piles, micropiles, caissons, retaining walls, and crane pads

Perform design and analysis of concrete and steel structural elements related to geotechnical works, including foundations, slabs, beams, frames, and embedded systems

Use finite element analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate structural performance under loading conditions and verify stability, strength, and serviceability

Design support of excavation (SOE) systems, including piles, lagging, struts, walers, tiebacks, base of excavation stability, ground improvement, and slope stabilization measures

Review and prepare models, drawings, and technical documentation in collaboration with geotechnical and structural engineers to support detailed design, quantity take-offs, and construction planning.

Develop plans and designs in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and engineering best practices across foundation engineering, structural design, and excavation support

Interpret geotechnical reports and site investigation data to incorporate soil-structure interaction and ground behaviour into design solutions

Produce and revise CAD drawings, 3D visualizations, and technical illustrations to support engineering deliverables, tender submissions, and construction packages

Coordinate with internal project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders, including shoring and deep foundation trades, to ensure alignment of design intent and constructibility

Is this the right role for you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology or related field
  • Structural drafting/design experience, ideally in geotechnical or underground settings
  • Strong grasp of geotechnical and structural engineering principles, including soil-structure interaction
  • Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE)
  • Knowledge of Canadian building codes and industry standards
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit, Civil 3D experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with construction methods, especially excavation and foundation works
  • Team player with independent work capabilities and strong work ethic
  • Organized, able to prioritize multiple projects
  • Problem-solving initiative with a positive attitude
  • Quick learner of new construction and engineering concepts
  • Skilled in current engineering software and tools
