Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Civil Estimator based in Oakville, Ontario. You will prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for civil construction, performing quantity takeoffs and pricing while collaborating with engineering, procurement, and operations teams.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of civil estimating experience and are proficient with InEightEstimate or HeavyBid. The role emphasizes accuracy, risk analysis, and data-driven cost control within a dynamic district.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of civil estimating experience acceptable.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as InEightEstimate, HeavyBid, or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, bid documents, and construction scopes to develop accurate estimates.
  • Strong understanding of quantity takeoffs, labour, equipment, materials, subcontract pricing, and historical cost data.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.

Position Overview

The Civil Estimator will prepare detailed estimates for civil scopes of work supporting the project. This role will perform quantity takeoffs, develop pricing, and collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams during estimate development.

District Overview

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. They serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.

Location

This position is based in our office in Oakville, Ontario.

Other Requirements:

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Base Compensation:$95,000 -$120,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
