Your opportunity

Dillon’s Transportation Infrastructure Discipline is seeking a Civil Engineering Graduate or Civil Engineering Technologist to grow our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Construction Administration

  • On-site construction observation and inspection of infrastructure projects ensuring that projects meet the requirements of contract drawings and specifications
  • Coordination, monitoring, and witnessing testing activities to ensure that testing being carried out is acceptable
  • Undertake survey construction layout utilizing Total Station, rod and level, and/or GPS equipment
  • Complete daily records of site conditions, activities, quantities and progress of work
  • Lead contract administration and support the Project Manager as required, including preparing progress payment certificates and meeting minutes

Design and Project Coordination

  • Assist project managers with coordinating transportation projects
  • Assist in the design of transportation projects including:
  • Preliminary and Detailed design
  • Engineering studies
  • Technical specifications
  • Design calculations
  • Complete transportation drafting using CADD software
  • Undertake overall project and construction cost estimates
  • Liase with clients and government agencies to move projects forward
  • Assist with site investigations and condition assessments
  • Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and administrative support staff

Business Development

  • Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
  • Participation in the Early Career Development program

Learning & Development

  • Contribution to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees, as well as continued fostering of client relationships
Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A diploma in civil engineering technology or a degree in civil engineering
  • 0-2 year’s work experience, with prior consulting engineering experience considered an asset
  • Registered as a Civil Engineering Technologist or an Engineer-in-Training in the province of Manitoba or eligible to be registered within six months

Experience

  • Understanding project design and implementation activities for City of Winnipeg and Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure projects, including: development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administration will be considered an asset
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D software will be considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
