Job summary

Fluor Canada in Vancouver is seeking an experienced Design Lead to supervise project designers and deliver cost-effective discipline designs. You will develop estimates, schedules, and material quantities, while reviewing specifications and procurement activities for complex projects.

The role requires mining industry experience, advanced design software skills, and strong communication with diverse stakeholders. Fluor Canada offers a compressed schedule and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-two (22) years if non-degreed.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in Mining industry is essential to be considered as a candidate for this position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
  • Practical field experience.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance/assistance to project designers.
  • Develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline design work.
  • Develop estimates and schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, including workforce forecasts.
  • Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts.
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria.
  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned
