The Salvation Army in Canada requires a Christmas Kettle Driver to deliver and collect kettles across designated sites from November 12, 2026 through December 24, 2026. Qualifications

  • Prior related experience is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and personal vehicle are required.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Ability to work evenings and night driving.
  • Willing to undergo background checks and screening.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and/or pick up kettle(s) from assigned locations daily.
  • Ensure security of donations and deposit into bags.
  • Coordinate with daytime staff for changing pick up plans.
  • Maintain mileage log and replenish kettle supplies as needed.
  • Work schedule may include weekend and evening shifts.

As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.**Mission Statement** The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.**Job Description:****Position Purpose summary:**The Christmas Kettle Driver is responsible for delivering and picking up kettles from various assigned locations as directed.**Accountabilities:*** Deliver and/or pick up kettle(s) from assigned locations in a timely manner daily from Monday to Saturday, ensuring the security of donations.* Deliver kettles to their final daily destination and help empty the kettle contents into the deposit bags.* Coordinates with daytime staff to respond to daily changes in pick up plan.* Maintains a positive working relationships with kettle sites, informing the coordinator or Corps Officer of conflicts/issues as they arise* Replenish Kettle supplies as required; possibly provide maintenance to Kettles and supplies* Maintain daily mileage log.* Perform other related duties as required.**Working Conditions:*** This is a temporary part-time position for up to 27 hours per week.* Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday.* Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.* Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.* The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.* Working environment is driving from location to location and returning to the church.* May deal with difficult people and verbal abuse.* Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.* Some afternoon driving and evenings from approximately 5:45pm-8:30pm, fluctuating schedule – flexibility will be required at times* November 12, 2026 – December 24, 2026 **Education, Qualifications and Certifications:*** Completed High School or equivalent**Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:*** Prior related experience is an asset.* Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. A program vehicle will be used for driving.**Skills and Capabilities:** * Ability to work under pressure, work efficiently, follow instructions, and think independently.* Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.Participate as an active and responsible team member.* Ability to represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner.* Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.* Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.* Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.* Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.* Comfortable driving at night.* Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.* Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.**Compensation:**The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $22.23 with a maximum of $26.20.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
