Job Title: Kids Ministry Director/Pastor
Accountable to: Executive Pastor
Salaried/Hourly: Full-Time – 24–40 hrs./week (depending on candidate)

The Kids Ministry Director/Pastor plays a central role in fulfilling this mission by creating safe, Spirit-filled, and relational environments where children (birth–grade 6) encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and partner with their families in discipleship.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall vision, leadership, and strategy for Kids Ministry in alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
  • Lead and oversee weekly Sunday kids’ programs (nursery, preschool, elementary).
  • Recruit, train, equip, and coach volunteers for all areas of Kids Ministry.
  • Equip and resource parents to disciple their children at home.
  • Organize seasonal kids’ ministry events (VBS, camps, holiday events).
  • Ensure all ministry environments comply with Horizon’s child protection and safety standards.
  • Manage scheduling, communication, supplies, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with other staff to integrate Kids Ministry into church life.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to cast vision, build and equip teams, and lead leaders.
  • Solid biblical foundation and ability to teach children and teach others to teach children.
  • Skilled in administration, organization, and program management.
  • Creative, adaptable, and collaborative in a team environment.
Experience and Education
  • 2–6 years of ministry experience (children’s ministry preferred).
  • Degree, diploma or some training in Biblical Studies, Theology, or Education preferred.
  • Interest and willingness to pursue ministry licensing and ordination if requested.
  • Experience leading or co-leading teams in a church with weekly attendance 400+.
  • Track record of equipping parents and volunteers to disciple kids.

Commitment

This is a Part-time pastoral role that could be full time depending on candidate fit (25–40 hours). It includes Sundays, weekday office presence, and seasonal ministry demands.
