A community-focused non-profit organization in Victoria is seeking a Child Care Programs Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of child care programs, support staff, and foster positive connections with families. The ideal candidate will possess valid ECE certification and experience working with children aged 5-11, demonstrating a strong commitment to inclusivity and community betterment. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive wage and benefits.
Position Type: Permanent Full-time 40hrs / week
Base Wage: $23.00 ECE WE Top-Up ($6.00)
Location: Fernwood Neighbourhood House 1240 Gladstone Avenue Victoria BC
Hours: Monday-Friday. Scheduled shifts may fall between 7:15 am - 5:30 pm.
Reports to: Early Years Manager and OSC Manager
Fernwood Neighbourhood House (FNH) is a vibrant multi-service organization working on the unceded ləkʔəŋən (Lekwungen) lands in Victoria BC. Were dedicated to fostering an inclusive resilient and connected community by providing a wide range of programs for all ages from childcare and family support to food security initiatives intergenerational programs and community events that celebrate our diverse neighborhood. Our work prioritizes equity centers the voices of marginalized and racialized people and aims to create a welcoming environment for everyone who calls Fernwood home.
The Child Care Programs Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day front-line operations of our Fernwood Neighbourhood House & upcoming Vic High coordinator works closely with the front-line staff to ensure that program delivery is holistic and aligned with the organizations values and the Early Learning Framework. This includes program and curriculum planning communicating and working effectively with staff families and children connecting with the community mentoring students recording appropriate documentation maintaining current files developing a strong team and providing leadership in keeping with the philosophy of Fernwood NH Child Care Programs. This position works collaboratively to ensure that the programs meet licensing requirements.

Shared spaces and furniture require occasional physical effort including lifting items up to 50 lbs (chairs tables mats etc.).
The centre can be busy and noisy reflecting its role as a vibrant community hub.
As a public facility you may encounter individuals or families in crisis; you’ll follow established protocols and safety procedures when providing support or interventions.
Fernwood Neighbourhood House is a unionized workplace and this position is part of the BC General Employees Union (BCGEU) bargaining unit. We are currently in the process of negotiating our first collective agreement. The compensation package for this role reflects current wages and benefits with adjustments anticipated once the collective agreement is finalized.
Please note that following the ratification of the collective agreement union dues will be deducted from employees pay in accordance with the terms outlined in the collective agreement and BCGEU policies.
