Job Purpose

Reporting to the Child Care and Early Learning Manager the Child Care Centre Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a BGCCVI Child and Family Centre which offers both early years and out of school care programs. This role oversees the operations of the Early Years programs including curriculum implementation staff management program outcomes and child enrollment. The Child Care Supervisor works in collaboration with the Out of School Care Supervisor to ensure organizational and external policy and processes are followed in key areas including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety VIHA Child Care Licensing and BGC Operating Standards. This role acts as the point person for the Centre and is responsible to be an approved Manager of the License with VIHA ChildCare Licensing.

Duties and Responsibilities
Early Years Programs Responsibilities

Ensure that the early years programs meet all VIHA Community includes initial onboarding of children and families updating of registration documents and to maintain program enrollment targets.

Conduct early years program assessments to develop individualized and group curriculum that meet the developmental needs of the children within the program. Work with the ECE team to create meaningful and enriching programming that uses the BC Early Learning Framework.

Participate in the creation of individual care or medical plans with parents and / or caregivers and other BGCCVI staff / stakeholders when required to fulfill the needs of the child.

Maintains liaison with for maintaining effective relationships parents / caregivers and other stakeholders. Involve the parents / caregivers in the decision-making process as it relates to the growth of their child at the Club.

Responsible for the management and support of program staff including but not limited to interviewing orientation / onboarding performance management facilitation of staff meetings staff supervision and training.

Works with other Program Supervisors and administrative departments to ensure early years programs and organizational perpetual actions and reporting are completed in timely manner. This includes financial reporting billing registration and enrollment.

Centre Responsibilities

Maintains a high level of excellence in relation to VIHA Community Care Licensing regulations BGC Operating Standards Work Safe BC Regulation andCCVI Policy and procedures.

Support the Out of School Care Supervisor in relation to VIHA Community Care Licensing Regulations including Centre inspections investigations reporting etc.

Provide Supervision and Performance Management to the Out of School Care Supervisor and to the Early Childhood Educators and Assistants.

Create an awareness and culture of trauma and violence informed care and person-centered approach and planning; working creatively with families to accommodate participation and work to remove barriers to participation. Participate in special promotional activities programs or events as required by BGCCVI.

In collaboration with the Operation Coordinator the Child Care Centre Supervisor will ensure maintenance and service(s) related to the facility and vehicles to ensure the health and safety of staff participants and overall positive image of BGCCVI.

Maintains WorkSafe BC regulations for the Centre are met through participating in internal inspections and adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Program.

Qualifications

Early Childhood Education Diploma (Combination of education and experience will be considered).

Valid First Aid / CPR certificate approved by Community Care Facilities Licensing.

A criminal record check will be conducted; no applicable convictions will be permitted.

Must be approved by the BC Early Childhood Registry (ECE Certificate).

Must be approved as a Licensed Manager by Community Care Facility Licensing within 30 days of employment.

Two (2) years previous work experience in a Licensed Child Care Facility as well as experience supervising staff.

A positive supportive and cooperative role model to children and youth.

The ability to function independently under pressure while managing complex situations is an ongoing expectation of this position.

Demonstrated ability to teach skills and work effectively with others.

Experience of assessment planning implementation and evaluation of programs and activities including working with those with unique needs and diverse abilities.

Well-developed oral written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to use MS office suite Outlook and MS Teams as well as basic word processing and spreadsheet ability.
