Child Minding Volunteer - LETS Go

Weareseekingresponsible, fun, and enthusiastic individuals to provide child care for newcomer immigrant children, ages 2to 14, in a safe, welcoming, and supervised environment while parents / guardians attend an English program on-site.

Childminding volunteers for the in-person LACE session on Tuesday (1 : 00 - 3 : 00pm) at Eastwood Community Centre. Also to assist staffon the Thursday field trips. You must be available for one shift each week.

Responsibilities include :
  • Provide an atmosphere where children may play safely in a supervised environment
  • Monitor and supervise children ensuring their well-being and safety
  • Engage children in age appropriate and interesting activities while caring for them
  • To notify parents and / or staff, immediately, when there are any challenges or issues that arise
  • Work cooperatively and positively with the team of staff and volunteers
  • Follow directions and guidance
Desired Skills / Abilities :
  • Prior experience caring for and working with children
  • Knowledge about age appropriate activities for children at different levels of development
  • Ability to display good judgement in providing age appropriate child care
  • Established interpersonal skills (i.e. communication, patient, friendly, enthusiastic)
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Understands and model positive relationship boundaries
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Second language is considered an asset
