Job summary

A local educational service provider in Powell River is seeking a part-time Child Development Educator to support children who need extra assistance in community settings. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field and at least 2 years of experience working with children with complex needs. Requirements for Ongoing Employment

  • A valid WCB-approved First Aid Certificate (renewable every 3 years)
  • A Valid WCB-approved Child Safe First Aid Certificate (renewable every 3 years)
  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
List of Duties
  • The Child Development Educator makes a significant contribution to families by facilitating through education the inclusion of children birth through to 12 years who need extra support to participate in community-based pre-schools, child care settings and/or who require one-to-one support in the family or caregiver’s home or another community setting.
  • They will work with community agencies and service providers to support their work in creating inclusive environments for young children and youth.
  • The Educator liaises with other professionals and agencies providing services to children.
  • The Educator uses and promotes a family-centred approach.
  • The Educator is a dedicated and knowledgeable member of a comprehensive organization-wide support team. As such, when deemed qualified with appropriate skills and abilities, they may provide services to other CFS programs, when required.
  • The Child Development Educator is familiar with and participates in ensuring that the strategic goals of the agency are met and contribute to the achievement of the Performance Outcomes for the Program.
