What You Will Do

Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager of Social Services, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to enhance the well-being of the individuals and communities we serve.

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities would be to collaborate closely with licensed child care programs, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, and community partners, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to support continuous quality improvement, capacity building, diversity, equity and inclusion across the early years system. A key focus of the position is to support licensed child care programs and EarlyON centres in strengthening program quality, accountability, and compliance through relationship-based support and professional collaboration. You will build and maintain positive working relationships with child care operators, EarlyON service providers, community agencies, and internal stakeholders, while remaining responsive to changing or ongoing operational and business needs by taking on additional duties as required. You will work in accordance with all applicable provincial and municipal legislation, regulations, and standards, as well as the County of Lennox and Addington’s local policies, procedures, guidelines, and operational requirements.

The primary duties would include but not be limited to:

  • Coordinate and support municipal quality assurance and compliance initiatives for licensed child care programs and EarlyON Child and Family Centres, including the development and implementation of an annual training and professional learning plan.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver training and capacity-building opportunities tailored to the needs of child care and EarlyON service providers, using a variety of formats such as workshops, communities of practice, peer learning, and webinars.
  • Conduct regular site visits and on-site quality assessments to support compliance with applicable legislation, municipal service agreements, and established quality standards.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to child care and EarlyON programs to promote continuous quality improvement and alignment with Ministry of Education priorities, directives, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with service providers, community partners, school boards, and municipal staff to strengthen system integration and support high-quality early years services including workforce recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Participate in and lead sector committees, networks, and community meetings to advance capacity building across Prince Edward and Lennox and Addington counties.
  • Prepare reports, compile data, evaluate quality initiatives, and bring forward recommendations to improve compliance, service delivery, and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational procedures, assessment tools, and administrative processes that support quality assurance and compliance.
What You Will Bring

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for helping people live their best lives and brings:

  • Post-Secondary Education (College Diploma or University Degree) in Early Childhood Education or in a related field (e.g. Early Childhood Development).
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a position delivering programs for young children.
  • Familiarity with related Ministry Directives, Guidelines and Regulations, Local Policies and Procedures, MFIPPA, the Municipal Act, and applicable Health and Safety regulations governing the delivery of early years and child care.
  • Considerable experience and knowledge of Early Years and Child Care programs, including knowledge of provincial legislation and policies.
  • Knowledge of child and human development theories and demonstrated experience in supporting others through change management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) including the ability to establish good working relationships with the public, early learning program providers and other staff.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle and able to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
