Job Summary:

The Support Worker is responsible for providing direct care, emotional support, and advocacy for children and youth in care. This role involves building trusting relationships, implementing personalized care plans, and working collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the well-being and development of those served. The ideal candidate is compassionate, patient, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.


Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Building:

Establish and maintain trusting and supportive relationships with individuals served by the organization, particularly children and youth.


Engage with individuals to understand their needs, preferences, and goals.


Emotional Support:

Provide empathetic and non-judgmental emotional support to individuals facing challenges such as trauma, abuse, neglect, mental health issues, and behavioral difficulties.


Offer guidance and encouragement to help individuals build resilience and self-confidence.


Intervention Implementation:

Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of each person.


Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure the best outcomes.


Activity Facilitation:

Organize activities and programs that promote social and emotional development, life skills, and community involvement.


Encourage participation and create a positive, inclusive environment.


Collaboration and Advocacy:

Work closely with colleagues, caregivers, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and holistic support for individuals.


Advocate for the rights, needs, and interests of individuals served, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.


Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, assessments, interventions, and progress.


Ensure that all documentation meets organizational and regulatory standards.


Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.


Contribute to a positive team environment and share insights and strategies with colleagues.
