NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites expressions of interest for a full-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist in St. John’s, NL.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within the Mental Health and Addictions Program, collaborating with pediatricians and other specialists. Requirements include an MD, FRCPC in Psychiatry with Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, licensure eligibility, and credentialing.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution.
  • FRCPC (or equivalent) in Psychiatry with subspecialty in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to children and adolescents up to age 18.
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient child and youth mental health services.
  • Provide consultation and collaborative care including to the Tuckamore Residential Treatment Centre.
  • Participate in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry on-call system.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary Mental Health and Addictions teams.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians within the Children and Women’s Health Program.
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites expressions of interest for a full-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with the Mental Health and Addictions Program in St. John’s, NL.

The successful candidate will join an established group of Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists working within multidisciplinary teams of the Mental Health and Addictions Program, collaborating extensively with pediatricians within the Children and Women’s Health Program. This position includes opportunities for:

  • Consultation and collaborative care to Eastern Health facilities including the Tuckamore Residential Treatment Centre
  • Inpatient and outpatient child and youth mental health services within the hospital and the expanding local community
  • Psychiatric assessment and treatment of patients up to the age of 18
  • Participation in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry on-call system
  • Interests in shared care, medical quality and efficiency, program development, administrative responsibilities, and clinical teaching are considered assets.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • FRCPC (or equivalent) in Psychiatry with subspecialty certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Eligible for licensure (full or provisional) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to children and adolescents up to age 18
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient child and youth mental health services
  • Provide consultation and collaborative care including to the Tuckamore Residential Treatment Centre
  • Participate in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry on-call system
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary Mental Health and Addictions teams
  • Collaborate with pediatricians within the Children and Women’s Health Program
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador, commensurate with level of experience.
