Job summary

Teck's Highland Valley Copper operation in Logan Lake, BC is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Integrated Planning engineering team and drive production planning, budgeting and continuous improvement. The role emphasizes safety leadership, strategic planning, and cross‑functional collaboration across the value chain.

The successful candidate will have an engineering degree, P.Eng. designation or eligibility, 8+ years of supervisory experience in mining, and strong data analytics.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• P.Eng. registration with EGBC or eligible.
• Minimum 8 years of experience coordinating and supervising an engineering team in mining or process setting.
• Strong digital proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and leadership to the Integrated Planning engineering team.
• Optimize the deployment of the technical workforce to drive key strategic activities.
• Deliver a six-week rolling plan, monthly forecasts, an annual budget, and a 3-Year Business Plan.
• Supervise all aspects of drill and blast, including design standards and implementation, performance review, and continuous improvement.
• Develop team members through planning, management by objectives, recognition, and mentorship.
• Oversee development of safe, optimized forecast production plans aligned with safety culture and commitments.
• Guide the Integrated Production team to deliver weekly and daily plans.
• Leverage production reporting and analytics to drive operating excellence.
• Support HVC Mine Life Expansion project delivery.
• Identify plan risks and develop risk management strategies.
• Influence site decision-making through data analysis and understanding of value drivers.
• Drive continuous improvement of planning and reporting processes.
