Job summary

The City of North Vancouver seeks an accomplished CFO to lead finance, governance, and risk management for its municipal energy initiatives. You will guide strategic planning, capital investment, regulatory reporting, and stakeholder communications while driving financial governance and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • CPA designation.
  • 8–10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.
  • Experience leading budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting and capital planning.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial governance.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and Boards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

  • Lead financial planning for capital projects, evaluating funding options including debt financing, grants, reserves and other financing mechanisms.
  • Provide financial leadership for utility rate setting, regulatory reporting and stakeholder communications.
  • Lead enterprise risk management, internal controls, insurance and financial governance.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Mayor and Council as required.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative finance team committed to accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional service.

Lonsdale Energy strives to be an environmental leader as it transitions toward low-carbon energy sources while delivering reliable and competitively‑priced energy to customers. Through the City of North Vancouver, Lonsdale Energy has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their team.

As a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, you will provide executive leadership across financial management, strategic planning, enterprise risk, corporate services and regulatory compliance. This is an exceptional opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys partnering on complex infrastructure projects, guiding organizational strategy, and supporting innovation in the utility sector.

As CFO, you will:

  • Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO and Board to support organizational objectives and long‑term planning.

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Develop long‑range financial plans that support infrastructure investment, asset renewal and sustainable growth.
  • Lead financial planning for capital projects, evaluating funding options including debt financing, grants, reserves and other financing mechanisms.
  • Provide financial leadership for utility rate setting, regulatory reporting and stakeholder communications.
  • Lead enterprise risk management, internal controls, insurance and financial governance.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Mayor and Council as required.
  • Foster a high‑performing, collaborative finance team committed to accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional service.

You are an accomplished finance executive with strong strategic thinking, exceptional business acumen and the ability to build trusted relationships across an organization.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • A minimum of 8–10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.
  • Experience leading budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting and capital planning.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial governance.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and Boards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship‑building skills.

Experience in utilities, energy, or another regulated industry would be considered a strong asset. An MBA or related graduate degree is also an asset.

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $165,996 to $194,076 annually.
