We are seeking a purpose‑driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Senior Management team and help shape the future of our employee‑owned social services organization which operates programs across British Columbia Alberta and Ontario. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the National Management Team the CFO is a trusted advisor to program leaders senior management and the Board while fostering a values‑based person‑centred culture.

You will lead the development and execution of our financial strategy ensuring fiscal integrity and long‑term sustainability for the organization. Serving as the organisations lead financial voice you will clearly interpret and present financial performance risks and opportunities to the CEO Board and program leaders to enable confident informed decision‑making at every level. The Controller reports directly to you and you will help coach and develop the Finance team fostering a culture of service excellence accountability and collaboration. Your work will include driving budgeting forecasting reporting and the stewardship of organisational addition you will enhance systems and processes by identifying efficiencies optimizing costs and elevating overall organisational performance.
As the ideal candidate you will bring strong financial acumen and proven experience managing complex multi‑faceted finance functions ideally within the social services healthcare or non‑profit sectors. You will communicate complex financial information clearly turning data into actionable insights for program leaders senior management and the Board.
You will serve as the chief financial spokesperson to our 750 employee‑owners clearly communicating the organisations financial position and guiding understanding of key strategic trade‑offs among reinvestment property acquisition and employee dividends.
You will demonstrate expertise in financial planning and analysis risk management and process optimisation. As a values‑driven leader with high emotional intelligence you will champion equity inclusion and person‑centred service delivery. You will combine a strategic mindset with operational depth driving the modernisation of the finance function while maintaining stability and service quality to support the organisations long‑term success.

One (1) permanent full‑time position (40 hours per week)
Monday through Friday typically 0800-1600 (flexible)
The position is based out of either the office in Maple Ridge BC or Edmonton Alberta with remote work opportunities available.
Collaborate with the CEO and National Management Team to define and execute the company's financial strategy and long‑term goals.
Develop and implement strategies to optimise capital allocation cost‑effectiveness and financial sustainability.
Analyse market trends economic conditions and industry developments to identify financial risks and opportunities for growth.
Lead financial planning and analysis activities to support data‑driven decision‑making and strategic initiatives.
Lead the organisations borrowing strategy including evaluating financing options negotiating loan terms and securing the best available rates and borrowing arrangements.
Provide strategic oversight of the organisations asset portfolio including real estate property equipment and investments to maximise value and minimise risk.
Manage the organisations insurance programmes maintaining appropriate coverage controlling costs and mitigating risk.
Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting accuracy.
Oversee the finance team and leverage the team to create operational reporting across the organisation.
Work with the Controller to manage the financial health of the organisation including financial planning reporting and cash flow management overseeing operational budgeting forecasting and financial analysis.
Collaborate with other leaders to drive business strategy and communicate financial performance to key stakeholders.
Ability to focus on the recent results and assess how this will impact the near and long term while helping the organisation identify actions needed to ensure the business exceeds its budgets.
Ensure the company remains in compliance with all requirements under our agreements with funders.
Report out quarterly and annual reports within a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all regulations and promote transparency and accountability.
Build and lead a high‑performing finance team by recruiting training and mentoring staff.
Foster a culture of collaboration innovation and accountability encouraging team members to excel.
Establish clear performance metrics and regularly review progress against organisational financial goals.
Degree in finance accounting business administration or a related field; relevant financial certifications (CPA CFA).
Minimum of 5 years of executive leadership experience in finance preferably within the social services / healthcare / non‑profit sector.
Proven track record of driving financial improvements and achieving strategic objectives.
Strong knowledge of Sage Intacct with the ability to leverage its reporting and analytics capabilities to effectively translate key financial indicators for senior management the Board and employee stakeholders.
Familiarity with CLBC and MCFD contract reporting requirements is considered an asset.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong understanding of the social services sector is an asset.
