Responsibilities
  • Estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items
  • Estimate labour costs
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
  • Lead and instruct individuals
Qualifications
  • Secondary (high school) graduation certificate
  • 2 to less than 3 years of fast‑food kitchen experience
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills over 3‑4 people
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, noisy, hot/cold, non‑smoking environment
  • Physical capacity to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, kneel and lift heavy loads
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, initiative‑driven, organized, reliable and a team player
  • Proficiency in English
