POSITION SUMMARY:

The CG Supervisor works in conjunction with VFX Supervisor, Producer, and Production Manager to develop a strong and flexible CG pipeline in Houdini. The CG Supervisor works with the project coordinator and producer to facilitate the scheduling of artists while working with VFX Supervisors to provide artistic and technical notes to each team. The CG supervisor will also oversee all elements created by the CG team and follow them through to final composition. The CG Supervisor is a key leader, overseeing each project through the production pipeline.
MAIN DUTIES:

The CG Supervisor will design, execute, and manage high-level CG for use in final compositing. They will address the body of work arriving from scanning and previews for initial color-correction requirements/ initial shot composite requirements. They will monitor shot continuity in all aspects of quality control, including final color-correction for timely delivery. They will monitor resources, throughout each day, and delegates work priorities based on fluctuations in schedule and shot progress. They will manage team of artists through progress checks, troubleshooting, dailies reviews, creative/technical feedback. They will maintain constant communication with VFX Supervisor and Producer on project progress.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possesses strong knowledge of Houdini
  • Bids CG assets and shot lighting
  • Daily monitoring of the render queue and review of previous night logs for deviance
  • Daily review of shot progress for film-out and approval for shots
  • Devises CG shot methodologies and communicates workflow to artists
  • Handles shot turnovers
  • Collaborates with production team to manage resources efficiently and effectively
  • Prepares/organizes/disseminates publishing of HDRIs, lidar scans, and references for CG assets
  • Conducts technical checks on CG renders for final delivery
  • Assists with notes and archives when necessary
WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will bring an ability to work "on the box" (as the lead artist) as show size and needs require. They will bring an ability to facilitate production needs of every team member by guiding and mentoring artists while maintaining high team morale. They will bring working knowledge of Maya, Houdini, Substance, Photoshop, Zbrush, Mari, Nuke, Shotgrid.

  • Experience in Team Training
  • Experience maintaining production technique fluency of leads
  • Eagerness to tests new techniques and technology as necessary
  • Ability to assist leads and crew develop "one-off" techniques as necessary
  • Experience with heavy scheduling while performing daily work
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • CG Generalist experience with strong grasp of both aesthetic and technical elements
