Job description

Parsons is seeking a CBA – Water Treatment Supervisor I for our Faro Mine Site. In this role you will play a crucial role in the successful operation and maintenance of all water treatment plant equipment and related water storage and conveyance facilities at the Faro Mine Complex. Local candidates preferred but we are open to candidates who are available on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis. These positions work shifts of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off with 12 hours per shift. The role includes paid travel to and from the site and housing accommodations; employees are responsible for providing their own food/meals. This position includes membership in the United Steelworkers Local 925. The hourly wage for this position is $44.00.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervisory control over all water treatment operations, ensuring work is executed safely, consistently, and in strict adherence to regulatory, environmental, and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and manage equipment, including pumps, piping, and water treatment systems.
  • Take readings, conduct water tests, and modify processes to maintain compliance with water discharge standards.
  • Troubleshoot and shut down plants in case of non‑compliant water.
  • Engage in all forms of labour to assist in the successful operation of all water treatment processes.
  • Lead and enforce daily safety and operational standards, including FLRAs, toolbox meetings, and field inspections, ensuring hazards are identified, controls are implemented, and expectations are met.
  • Verify operator competency and procedural adherence through guidance, coaching, and training support to maintain high operational and safety standards.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily work activities, ensuring resources are deployed effectively, priorities are addressed, and operational targets are achieved.
  • Oversee initial incident response and reporting, ensuring accurate documentation, timely escalation, and effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Complete accurate daily records of plant and pumping performance, and conduct site inspections.
  • Engage in pipe fitting training and other technical skill development.
  • Work 12‑hour day and night shifts as scheduled, in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Complete Health and Safety (H&S) training related to on‑site policies and company requirements and adhere to requirements while performing work.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in operating water treatment plants and pumping systems.
  • EOCP Wastewater Level I certification required for advanced plant operations.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor team members, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • Ability to lift 25 kg and perform physical tasks such as pulling, standing, or crouching for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including remote northern climates year‑round.
  • Proven understanding of safe work practices and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. It is a unionised worksite governed by the Faro Union Collective Bargaining Agreement. Union membership and dues will apply.
