Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Catering Server to support setting up event spaces, serve guests, and ensure a clean, safe, and positive guest experience at functions.

Responsibilities include delivering food, maintaining temperatures, assisting with prep, arranging buffet tables, and providing courteous service throughout events. A valid Food Handler Certificate and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate are required along with 1 year in a similar setting.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Must have Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the applying province.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions to scheduled locations.
• Log and maintain food temperatures.
• Assist with food and table prep before events begin.
• Arrange buffet tables with food, beverages, and service items according to standards.
• Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to beverage/appetizer requests.
• Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during service.
• Clean location after event and assist with inventory and closeout tasks.
• Return food, beverages, equipment and utensils to the catering facility.
• Stock and maintain catering facility and equipment.
• Provide friendly, courteous service at all times.
• Maintain knowledge of menu and products on hand.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job description

As the Catering Server, you will support with setting up event spaces, serving guests in a courteous and efficient manner, maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety standards, assisting with event breakdown after service and ensuring excellent guest experience throughout the event.

How you will make an impact:

You will be responsible for delivering and serving food and beverages at scheduled functions.

As a Catering Server, you will:

• Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions to their scheduled locations
• Log and maintain food temperatures
• Assist with food and table prep before events begin
• Arrange buffet tables with food, beverage, and service items according to standards
• Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages, appetizers, and other needs
• Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
• Thoroughly clean location after event is completed and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks
• Return food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility
• Stock, clean and maintain catering facility and equipment
• Ensure guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the complete menu and products on hand
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
• Follow safety and sanitation policy and procedures at all times

About you:

• You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province in which you are applying
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar environment
• Valid driver's license may be required
• Able to accurately read event orders and organize deliveries for the day
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Extremely well organized and efficient; able to multi-task
