Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a term-time kitchen assistant to support catering teams across Essex in a mobile role. Shifts are 09:30 to 14:30, with tasks including food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, receiving deliveries, serving customers, and topping up vending.

The ideal candidate will have basic catering knowledge or a certificate, good knife skills, time management, and the ability to work under pressure. DBS check and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Commercial kitchen experience is valued but not essential.
• Basic catering certificate or food handling certificate is desirable but not required; training can be provided.
• Must have basic knife skills, food preparation skills, and time management.
• Ability to work under pressure with good organisational skills.
• Standing for extended periods is often necessary due to the physical nature of the job.

Responsibilities

• Help with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and making sandwiches/salads.
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area and equipment (utensils, tableware, stations).
• Assist with receiving/unpacking deliveries and organising food/supply storage areas.
• Serve food items to customers according to the chefs' menu.
• Top up vending services daily.

What are we looking for?

• Must have basic knife skills, food preparation skills, and time management skills.
• Can work under pressure and excellent organisational skills are also important
• Can stand for extended periods is often necessary due to the physical nature of the job

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK
• Must be prepared to undergo a DBS or Enhanced security check
• Good time-management and organisational abilities
