Qualifications

About the Role

We’re looking for a Casualty Claims Adjuster to help get our customers back on track so they can focus on what matters most.

As a Casualty Adjuster within our Specialty Lines Long Haul Trucking Team, you’ll be part of a national group handling claims across Canada and the United States. You’ll work closely with team members across North America, collaborating to investigate and resolve bodily injury claims involving transport trucks. In addition to trucking claims, you’ll also manage Ontariopersonal lines and commercial casualty facility claims.

Your expertise in claims handling will allow you to analyze and act decisively, while your strong negotiation and influencing skills will help you drive effective resolutions. What you’ll do here
  • The ability to investigate, analyze, evaluate, quantify and report on losses with high level of complexity Bodily Injury files
  • Manage losses throughout Canada and USA
  • Handling Ontario's commercial and personal line facility third party bodily injury claims in our Halcion system
  • Working with the Facility Association and completing semi annual facility reports
  • Within established authority limits, able to negotiate effective settlements of claims, attend courts proceedings, mediations and settlement meetings
  • Knowledgeable of insurance case law and regulatory changes while being available as a mentor, role model and technical resource for others
  • Work well with Defence and Plaintiff counsels alike with the goal of resolving the file in a timely manner on all levels of claims
  • Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable
  • Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with the customer, claimants, lawyers and insurers to settle claims and report findings and settlements
  • Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage
What you bring to the table
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years investigating Auto Casualty claims
  • Long Haul Trucking experience is considered an asset
  • Ontario litigation, tort and claims handling experience is required
  • Analytical skills, detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to multitask and juggle competing priorities
  • Knowledge of the provincial legislation governing auto insurance
  • Completed or actively pursuing CIP designation
Willingness to secure out of province adjusting licenses

University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role

Bilingual in English and French is an asset
